Studies Completion – Certificates of Studies Completion
The graduate students who have completed all of their academic obligations (they have successfully completed their course work, as well as the presentation of their thesis, if necessary), can be declared as holding their Master’s degree (through an announcement by the Secretariat Office of the Department.
The graduate students who pursued a thesis (either by requirements or by choice) and successfully completed it, to finalize the completion of their studies procedure must:
- Submit their thesis to the University Depository of DIONI.
- Submit an abstract of their thesis to the Secretariat Office (Greek – English), and
- Submit to the Secretariat Office a formal declaration for pursuing a thesis.
For those graduate students who have completed all their graduate obligations, the Secretariat Office deleted their student identities via an application provided by the Ministry of Education.
The successful graduate students who have also completed their financial obligations towards the Graduate Program also receive from the Secretariat Office a certificate that certifies the completion of their studies.
The above certificate enables the graduate students to confirm their Master’s holding status to all public and private entities that are considered potential employers.
The formal declaration of the Diploma holding occurs during a formal ceremony event where the graduate students receive their Diploma and take their oath in front of the Rector of the University of Piraeus.
The dates of that ceremony are determined only by the Rector of the University of Piraeus, in collaboration with the Chair of the Department and the Director of the Graduate Program.
The relevant announcements are uploaded onto the Department’s site about 15-20 days before the ceremony.
Upon the announcement of all the details in relevance to the Oath Ceremony, specific instructions are provided with respect to the time and location that the ceremony will be held. The successful graduate students to secure their participation must fill out the oath document and send it to the Secretariat Office within the required dates. Upon the announcement of the oath ceremony, these students have access to this document, as well as to the text they are about to read during the ceremony event. At the same time, they must fill out: a) the Evaluation of the Graduate Program and their Data Update Document, and b) the Student’s Office Document.
The graduate students who are unable to participate in the oath ceremony event need to inform the Secretariat Office in time for their absence, while they are keeping the right to participate in a future oath ceremony event.
Moreover, these graduate students and under special reasons they can ask the Secretariat Office to send them their formal Diploma to be sent to any valid post address.

The Secretariat Office informs all the participants about the details of the ceremony. The graduate with the highest grade reads out the oath and next all graduates repeat it after him/her. The graduates who do not wish to read out the oath have the right just to confirm their honor and consciousness for completing the program.

The primary goals of the Alumni are to secure the scientific reliability and the competitive recognition of the graduates, the promotion of the quality of the Graduate Program to the business world, and the contribution for strong ties across members; overall, the Alumni plans to be the bridge of a permanent and consistent communication between the academic environment and the job market.
The Alumni has organized certain activities so far, such as scientific meetings and networking events, the evaluation of the Graduate Programs by previous graduates who are holding top positions in the job market etc. It is important, as well as mandatory, the newly graduates to join the Alumni and be active participants in the organized events.
