Laboratories
The Institute of Finance and Financial Regulation (IFFR, www.iffr.gr) is an International Research Centre of Excellence, founded recently under the auspices of the Department of Banking and Financial Management of the University of Piraeus. It’s mission is to provide high quality applied research, executive training, and consulting services on a project basis in the fields of related areas such as asset management, asset pricing, FinTech, risk management and financial regulation with a view to its practical applications and implications. As a result, its aim is to bridge the gap between academia and the industry and thus ultimately providing a think tank on questions of interest to policy makers, regulators and investors.
IFFR is based in Athens, Greece, yet it is a high quality international applied research hub in Finance and Financial Regulation. Its board of Fellows consists of world renowned academics from leading universities, and professionals who have marked their footprint to the functioning of financial markets as IFFR . The mission of the Laboratory is to promote basic and applied research in Corporate Finance and Financial Markets, as well as to improve the education provided at undergraduate and postgraduate level of the relevant disciplines as they apply today in the light of Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability (CSR/ESG) concepts, while at the same time to disseminate this knowledge to the business community through collaborations with companies of the Private and Public Sector.
The Green Finance and Banking Laboratory of the Department of Banking and Financial management of the University of Piraeus was established in 2015 as the Green Banking Laboratory and renamed into Green Finance and Banking Laboratory in 2022 to better reflect the breadth of the research and practical topics related to sustainability finance covered by the Lab.
The Green Finance and Banking Laboratory is a scientific hub aimed at advancing research and practical applications related to sustainability finance and banking, and topics relevant to sustainability reporting.
The Laboratory takes a comprehensive approach about sustainability issues, encompassing all relevant benefits for society, the environment, businesses, banks and the economy as a whole.
It also aims to bring the academic community into closer contact with businesses, banks, and State institutions.
Its purpose is to contribute to the international recognition of the Department of Banking and Financial Management of the University of Piraeus by promoting research undertaken by its faculty members and doctoral students on sustainability issues.
The purpose of the FinTech and Quantitative Finance Laboratory (FinTechQF Lab) is to promote basic and applied research, as well as to improve the education provided at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the relevant subjects, with the parallel practical application and development of these subjects in the broader economy through collaborations with private and public sector enterprises.
