| Courses Evaluation
At the end of each semester, the graduate students can evaluate the courses they have attended.
The primary goal of this evaluation process is the provision of comments through which the Graduate Program can use to improve the quality of teaching, as well as the overall enhancement of the merit of the program. In this manner, the graduate students have the opportunity to express their view about the quality of the program and, thus, to actively participate in the progress of the program’s curriculum.
The questionnaire has no name on it, students’ participation is optional, while it contains a number of questions in relevance to:
- The course and the expected results
- The Instructor
- The teaching assistants
- Laboratories
- Homework papers
- Class attendance and study patterns
The Procedure of the Course Evaluation
The procedure of evaluating the course quality characteristics is uniform across all courses and instructors, while the questions are in relevance to the structure and the context of the course, the quality of instructors and their teaching skills, as well as the quality of the teaching equipment used.
The procedure follows these steps:
The link through which the evaluation process will be implemented for each course.
The dates, the time and the relevant link of all electronic evaluations are announced by the Secretariat Office and are available to all graduate students. The announcement occurs in time so as the graduate students can have with them the necessary equipment (i.e. smartphone, tablet, laptop etc).
The evaluation process is anonymous and can take place either in class or in the computer lab of the Department, without the presence of the instructor.
In case the course is offered by more than one instructor, then the evaluation process takes place for all of them.
The ΟΜΕΑ group of the Department supervises the course evaluation procedure by securing the validity of all steps followed.
The responses from the questionnaire are obtained by the ΟΜΕΑ and next their statistical analysis follows. This procedure occurs at the end of each semester and its primary goal is to take advantage of the results to improve the quality of teaching, the improvement of the curriculum of the Graduate Program, as well as the improvement of the communication/collaboration efficiency between students and instructors. The results of the evaluation process are presented in the General Assembly of the Department where they are discussed across Faculty; if necessary, the General Assembly suggest strategies that can improve the quality of the Graduate Program. These suggestions are seriously considered by the instructors, as well as by the ΟΜΕΑ of the Department; any agreed changes are adopted by the Graduate Program. Next, the Secretariat Office communicates the evaluation findings to all instructors while they need to seriously consider them for their future teaching activities. Needless to say, the communication of these findings to instructors occurs only after the completion of the grading procedure.
The evaluation findings are reported on the Department’s site every academic year.
