Nikolaos Kourogenis

Nikolaos Kourogenis is Professor of Quantitative Finance at the Department of Banking and Financial Management, University of Piraeus. He currently is the Chairman of the Department and Director of the Laboratory of Financial Technology and Quantitative Finance. His research is published in high ranked journals in the fields of Finance, Econometrics and Applied Mathematics. He has also presented his research in numerous research conferences, and as invited speaker in academic seminars and professional conferences. Nikolaos’ consulting experience focuses on asset management firms and IT companies, and on the development of solutions in the fields of finance and accounting.

From October 2019 Gikas Manalis is appointed as CEO of Cerved Credit Management Greece. Cerved group is the largest provider of business information and data processing. Cerved via its subsidiary Cerved Credit Management is also one of the leading players that offer solutions for the evaluation and management of credit exposures. Cerved Credit Management Greece is a licensed (January 2019) company by Bank of Greece.

From April 2019 he is appointed as Chairman of Cerved Property Services which offers valuations, asset management, legal and technical due diligence in real estate assets.

From July 2015 to December 2019, he held the position of Senior Adviser of KBW, a Stifel Group company, being responsible for identifying and introducing opportunities relating to Equity Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Debt Capital Markets and Corporate Restructuring, as well as initial

public offering, private placements, equity advisory assignments, M&As, debt private placements and other performing and non-performing instruments.

The bank was heavily involved in the last round of Greek banks recapitalization in December 2015.

From October 2011 to November 2015 he held the position of coordinator of the Council of Experts at the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (Privatization Fund). The Council consists of seven members out of which four are Greeks with a wide range of expertise (academic, legal and financial

sector) and three are representatives of the ECB, IMF and EU.

From June 2012 until today, he is the Vice Chairman of BoD of Athex Clear (ETEK), which is the Clearing House of the Athens Stock Exchange.

From February 2014 until February 2015 he held the position of CEO of Attica Bank S.A.

From April to June 2013, he was appointed as CEO of the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT S.A.), while from June 2013 until February 2014 he held the position of Special Liquidator of Assets and Liabilities of the former ERT S.A.

From October 2011 until April 2013, he was appointed as CFO at First Business Bank. He was supervising the Accounting and Finance department, NPLs and HR. He was also member of ALCO, Investment Committee and NPLs Management Committee.

He joined the Athens Stock Exchange Group in July 2000 when he assumed the duties of General Director of Corporate Operations. During the period of 2000-2005 he has carried out successfully major projects such as the Group listing on the Athens Stock Exchange, the transformation of the Group which at that time constituted of seven companies, and the subsequent merger and acquisition of its subsidiaries, the privatization of Hellenic Exchanges and the functional reorganization of the Group.

For the period of 2006-2010 he held the position of General Director of Business & Products Development. His main responsibilities were the listing of companies in the organized and alternative market of the ASE. He was also responsible for Clearing and Settlement, Risk Management and Market Surveillance.

He also held the position of the Vice Chairman at the Board of Directors of the Athens Stock Exchange up to May 2012.

In 1999 he established a brokerage firm, being its CEO until 2000.

From 1981 to 1999 he worked at National Bank of Greece to the Financial Management Division, Financial Research & Planning Division, Strategic Planning & Financial Auditing Division and to the Treasury for the last seven years.

He studied Business Administration at the University of Piraeus (1978), received his Master degree from the University of Sheffield (1987) on Money, Banking & Finance, while he holds a Ph.D. in Finance from City University of London (1993), from where also he received a Research Award.

He has an extensive research field and publications both in Greek and international referee journals, on issues concerning the structure and function of the Greek financial system and the capital market. Among other things, he has published the book “The Effects of Capital Deregulation in the Greek Capital Market”

He teaches at Deree the American College of Greece, Money & Banking (2018), he taught at International Hellenic University at the MSc in Banking & Finance, the course of Fixed Income and Foreign Exchange (2012). He had been elected as lecturer at the Athens University of Economics and BusinessDepartment of Accounting and Finance (2001) and appointed as tutor at Panteion University, Department of European Studies (1999-2000). He also taught at the National Centre for Public Administration (1994-1995) and at the Hellenic Banks Association (1988-2002).

Panos Michalopoulos

Panos has vast experience in business development and entrepreneurship in Greece and abroad.

He started his career with PwC Greece and was involved in large scale projects, as a professional consultant, in the areas of risk appraisal, strategic business planning, debt & operational restructuring, investment appraisal, mergers, acquisitions and fund raising.

After PwC, Panos founded HELLASTAT S.A. in 2003 and he was acting as CEO till 2013 when he sold the company to GLOBAL FINANCE.

In 2018 he co-founded WEMETRIX SA, a joint-venture with INTRASOFT INTERNATIONAL and he is acting as a CEO.

For this work, Panos was listed amongst the 40 under 40 most promising entrepreneurs by FORTUNE Greece.

John Soldatos

John Soldatos

John Soldatos holds a PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (2000) and is currently ICT & Business Consultant and Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow, UK (2014-present). He was Associate Professor and Head of the Internet of Things (IoT) Group at the Athens Information Technology (AIT), Greece (2006–2019), and Adjunct Professor at the Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA (2007–2010). For over 20 years, he has significant experience in working closely with large multi-national industries (INTRASOFT International, IBM, INTRACOM S.A) as R&D consultant and Innovation Delivery Specialist, while being partner and scientific advisor to high-tech startup enterprises.

Dr. Soldatos is an expert in Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and applications, including applications in smart cities, digital finance, and industry (Industry 4.0/5.0). Dr. Soldatos has played a leading role in the successful delivery of more than seventy (70) (industrial, research, and business consulting) projects, for both private & public sector organizations. He is co-founder of the open-source platform OpenIoT (https://github.com/OpenIotOrg/openiot). Dr. Soldatos has published more than 200 articles in international journals, books, and conference proceedings. He is regular contributor in various international magazines and blogs, on topics related to Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Industry 4.0, and cybersecurity. Moreover, he has received national and international recognition through appointments in standardization working groups, expert groups, and various boards. He has recently coedited and co-authored six edited volumes (books) on Artificial Intelligence, BigData and Internet of Things related themes. He is the author of the book “A 360o Degrees View of IoT Technologies”, which was published by Artech House in December 2020 and co-author and co-editor of the book “Big Data and AI Applications in Digital Finance” that was published by Springer Nature in May 2022.

Michalis Anthropelos is Assistant Professor of Mathematical Finance at the Department of Banking and Financial Management of the University of Piraeus. He is also the Director of the Department’s Doctoral Program. His well published research focuses in Financial Mathematics, while he has considerable consulting experience in the Investment Strategies of (Occupational) Pension Funds.
