Eirini Konstantinidi, a second year doctoral student at the Department of Banking and Financial Management of the University of Piraeus (supervisor: Dr. G. Skiadopoulos), has been awarded a doctoral student travel grant by the American Finance Association (AFA).
The grant allows Eirini to attend the prestigious AFA’s 2009 annual meeting at San Francisco, California, in January, 2009. It is the first time that this grant is awarded to a doctoral student studying in a Greek university (see the name list here). The AFA is the premier academic organization devoted to the study and promotion of knowledge about financial economics.
The AFA publishes the Journal of Finance, one of the top three journals in the field of finance. Last year only 34 students from top European and U.S. universities had received this grant to attend the 2008 AFA meetings in New Orleans;
